Review: Another Saturday Night and I Ain't Got No Body

Sunny’s not sure she’s even looking for Mr. Maybe, when her friends decide to find her Mr. Right.

Sunny Vale considers herself a dog-loving, romance-reading, homebody. But her life goes from dull to deadly when her book club fires her from her own love life and sets her up on six blind dates- one of whom might be with a murderer. More trouble arrives in the dead of night, in the form of Jake Landon, a mysterious stranger, who breaks into her neighbor’s house and possibly her heart. But Jake is packing more than a loaded gun in his well-fitting Levi’s. He brings an arsenal of secrets and plenty of heat to Sunny’s ho-hum summer.
Jake Landon finds himself caught up in the capers of the sexy blonde in the house next door. But he has his own agenda which doesn’t involve playing hero to a curvy second-grade teacher and babysitting her panty-puking puppy. He's got other problems like fiery explosions, a missing person...and a parade of jerks Sunny insists on dating.
Could Sunny’s Mr. Right be right under her nose? Even though Jake is gorgeous, likes her dog, and has abs she can crack an egg on, can she really go out with him if he’s just murdered her next door neighbor?

Women of all ages will enjoy this tale of humorous, women's fiction, that also has a touch of cozy mystery in this small town love story.

Let me just start off by saying that this book will make you laugh. From the nosy neighbor to the bad dates, you'll be chuckling from start to finish.

Sunny is a sweet school teacher that wants to live her own life with her awesome dog. But when her elderly neighbor goes missing and their spit-fire other neighbor brings her in on the hunt, what's a girl to do? She gets involved, and ends up right in the middle of it all. Edna, the spit-fire neighbor is the heart and soul of the book group that Sunny is a part of. When the book group decides that Sunny needs to start dating again, they make her promise that each of them will get a turn. The only problem is, the guy that is turning her head is the mysterious stranger who moved into her missing neighbor's house claiming to be his grandson. And he has a gun. That can't be safe, right?

Going from one bad date to another shows Sunny just what she isn't missing out on in life (we've all been there before) and lands her a bonafide creepo el stalkero.  We've all been there too. Oh, you haven't? You're missing out, I promise.

Will Sunny be able to land on her feet after all the bad dates, underwear-eating dog, gun-toting neighbor, and book club members get through with her? Find out for yourself by purchasing Another Saturday Night and I Ain't Got No Body from Amazon. You can also find this book on Goodreads.

Disclaimer: I DON'T recommend you getting a stalker, unless you had one like mine. He was a sweet high school crush and we pretended to stalk each other just for the fun of it. Real stalkers a creepy and may do what the one is this book did. And that's just not cool, you know?

Cover Reveal: Torn

With the sudden, mysterious death of her father, Samantha discovers her life isn’t what it seems. Not only isn’t she the normal teenage girl she thought she was, Sam must now take her father’s place in the fight between two groups of fallen angels, the Faithful and the Exiled, in a race to save humanity. In addition to dealing with a devastating betrayal—and having feelings for someone she’s forbidden to love—Sam must also fight the growing darkness within her as she struggles to make a choice between fighting alongside the Faithful or succumbing to the temptation of the Exiled. Both sides require sacrifices Sam isn’t sure she can make.

I must say, this looks really good and I can't wait to get my hands on a copy!

Review: Upon Your Return

Fara Bellamont has been back in society for a year after leaving Cluny Abbey, where her uncle sent her long ago. When he chooses a suitor for her for marriage, she fears that she will be forced to marry a stranger and live a miserable life.
But, Fara finds herself thrust into an adventure of a lifetime when unforeseen circumstances cause her to place her trust in a strange man for protection. His intervention not only saves her, but puts her in an even more compromising position.
Grant Hill, a trading captain, is enchanted by the young heiress not only because of her beauty, but because she is hardly conventional. Underneath her ladylike exterior lies a tigress. Grant cannot help but offer his protection as she is in need and he is far from immune from her charms.
Fara just never bargained on the passion that she feels for Grant Hill. As events unfold, she must decide whether her desires and the dictates of her heart should trump the rules of society in this exciting tale.

Upon receiving this book, I immediately noticed how beautiful the cover was. I only meant to open it long enough to see how long it was going to be but found myself sucked in to the story from page one. I couldn't stop reading and ending up stay up way past my usual bedtime. It was that good.

Fara's background elicits teary eyes at the thought of the hopelessness that faces children in her situation. She was orphaned at a young age during a time in the world that when having a place to live meant relatives had to take you in or your were sent to the work houses, no matter your age. Thankfully, she did have an uncle to turn to but he was a cold man that tried to stifle the independent woman she was to become.

I laughed, cried, and even cheered a few times during the reading of Upon Your Return.

Fara and Grants story is one that leaves you hoping for more and the touches of historically correct facts, women's rights issues, and the way society worked back then makes this book a hidden gem. Add in the fact that it was well-written and wonderfully edited makes it a five star book, in my opinion.

Brava to the author for publishing a book that turned out so wonderfully! Looking forward to reading more from Marie Lavender in the future! You can purchase Upon Your Return from Amazon or read more about it from Goodreads.

This first one is a favorite of mine and I highly recommend you grab it while you can. It's free until Saturday! An unholy ritual, a ticking clock. Four children discover there are things that go bump in the night ...

Centuries ago a group of Elves committed an unholy ritual. But the ritual was a spectacular failure. It transformed the Elves into the Noctivagi - the beings we know as vampires.Striving to maintain a fragile peace, the ancient Elves and Dwarves negotiated an Accord, which they've renewed every year on the Summer Solstice. The ceremony depends on the magical Rune Stone, but it's missing. If it is not found—and quickly—the consequences could be dire, and not just for Elves and Dwarves.Four children, Rob, Jack, Eleanor, and Flora, stumble into a world of magic and mayhem when they move into Black Ledge, the old estate on the Maine coast, and discover they aren’t the only ones who live there.

Throughout her entire life, Ella has heard voices. Voices inside her head. She's never given much thought as to why she has this gift… or this curse, depending on which way you look at it. It's not until she meets the mysterious Jonah that she begins to question her inherited abilities as a Soul Seer.Learning to deal with loss and love, Ella manages to live a seemingly normal life… or so she thought."Rene Folsom puts a new twist in the concept of 'soul mate', taking our romantic notions to an eerily-desirable level of love, lust, and—quite possibly—lunacy!"— Jayce Grayson, Author of “Xianne: A Comedy of Cultures”"Rene Folsom's imagination takes us on a mind blowing ~ soul shattering journey. The love and elements of surprise will leave you breathless..."— Natalie Idrogo, NarlyNut’s Book Lovers, narlynut.blogspot.com"This story was gut wrenching, sweet, exciting, and really left an impact on me. This story left me absolutely stunned and desperate to find out what happens next!"— Terri Kinckner, Indie Addict Book Blog, teresabethscar.wordpress.com

Bind Me By Rene Folsom

Warning: This isn't a clean YA book like most have been before this, it's for ADULTS ONLY. If you don't like erotica, please don't pick up this book and then complain about it. You've been warned.

Bind ME Lily had a suspicion her new roommate was the type to always take control, no matter what the situation. It wasn’t until she accidentally peeked in on Chaz dominating another woman, that her suspicions were realized. Lily watched with amazement as Chaz masterfully played the female like a sensual instrument, bringing her the most intense gratification Lily had ever witnessed. After witnessing his sexual expertise from a distance and noticing the careful attention he gives to his lovers, Lily wanted nothing more than to have his hands sculpt every inch of her body. Unable to forget the incredibly erotic scene Chaz so skillfully played out, Lily sought to make her desires known by casually submitting to him throughout their daily lives. To her excitement, Chaz invites Lily to his prestigious art show opening at a local gallery. All it takes is a slinky dress, a pair of kitten heels, and a tiny scrap of lace to drive Chaz wild, causing some very heated moments.

An excerpt from Bind Me As I knelt there watching his every move with expectation, Chaz began to unbutton the cuffs of his sleeves and roll them up, allowing the defined muscles of his forearms to show. He then began unbuttoning his shirt just enough that the oh-so-sexy tattoo on his left pectoral peeked from beneath the fabric. I was lucky to keep myself from drooling at the sight of the black ink tracing around his toned muscles and perfectly sculpted skin.

Another WARNING. You may learn something new about me that isn't as angelic as this blog makes me out to be.   As someone acquainted with the BDSM lifestyle, I always get a bit giddy when an author gets it right. Most of the relationships aren't just about domination and pain like some books try to convince you of *cough* Fifty Shades of Terrible *cough* and Bind Me got it right. Chaz and Lily are roommates but when Lily accidentally walks in on Chaz and another girl, she realizes she wants more than a platonic relationship with him. What's more, she wants what he had going on with the other girl. Lily slowly starts changing her behavior around him to make sure Chaz gets the hint about what she wants from him and boy does he! Bind Me is written by someone that obviously understands that there are more sides to an alternative sexual relationship than is usually portrayed. Author Rene Folsom delivers a story that draws the reader in, even if this isn't the type of book they usually go for. Well written and sensually graphic, Bind Me ends with you imagining what happens after Chaz and Lily go home for the night.   If you've never read a bondage book, this would be a great one to start with. Nothing scary happens in it and Lily is in full control at all times. She just has to say stop. Rene has a way with words that allows you to visualize what is going on and it leaves you wishing for more. This wasn't the first book, nor the last, that I've read by her but it IS the only one that makes me want to lock her in a room and take away her internet connection until she continues with Lily and Chaz's story.  I want to know if they get together any more. If they date. If they get married. If a third person enters the equation. If he finds someone better. But no. We don't get that. What we do get, and we're happy for the crumbs she threw our way, is the amazing story of two people exploring each other in public(ish). I loved it. Now I'm just waiting to forget enough of it so that I can read it again! And again. And again. Check out her website (link below) for a bigger, more graphic, excerpt. Element, Part 1 by CM Doporto

Element-Part-1-853x1333 College freshman, Natalie Vega, offers to be a test patient for several vitamins and supplements created by Kronberg Laboratories, a large pharmaceutical company where she interns. Immediately her body starts going through physical changes but when she runs into her former high school crush, Ryan Garrett, she is unaware of the life altering affects he will have on her.

When I read the blurb for this book, I knew it was something I wanted to read but it wasn't until I actually started it that I realized how much I loved it. Element, Part 1 was extremely well written and, unlike other books I've read from Amazon, it wasn't riddled with typos or grammatically incorrect sentences. The story moved just a bit fast for me to buy it completely but that could have been because there didn't seem to be much of a timeline involved. I wasn't sure if the relationship developed over the course of a month or 6 months. That's honestly my only issue with the book. I'd love to know just how much time had passed from the start to the end. All in all, I loved it. And I promise that if you give this book a chance, you might too. Natalie, a college freshman, is suffering from heartbreak from her high school boyfriend when she sees an old crush turn up at an orientation for the job of her dreams. They've both had their hearts broken and aren't ready for relationships but are drawn to each other regardless. Strange things start happening to Natalie each time she's near Ryan but neither of them think anything of it. Until the very end, that is. Which is exactly where CM Doporto leaves us with a cliff hanger. Stuck, biting our nails, wondering what on earth Natalie will tell Ryan and if they will work through their issues and figure out what is going on together.   Note: I'm actually re-reading Element, Part 1 because the second book is newly out. Before I start that one, I really want to revisit this one to make sure that I'm still all caught up. When you read 20 - 30 books per month, you can sometimes forget the small details and I really don't want to do that with these books! Don't forget to check back later in the month for the review of Element, Part 2.   You can catch up to C. M. Doporto via her Facebook page or through her author page on Amazon. While you happen to be on Amazon, feel free to click over and grab the book here!

Noble Lies by Stephanie Andrassy

16115067It is not much of a fairy tale at all. Her eighteenth birthday has arrived! Sweet and beautiful Jez must now marry a man that she has been matched with since birth, but she knows little about him. It is hard enough to leave her loving childhood home, and travel under the protection of the arrogant Guardian. When she also comes face to face with dark truths, she realizes the secrets she must now carry, and the lies she must now tell. To do otherwise would destroy the peace that the nation has enjoyed for many decades, place her family in danger, and end her marriage before it even begins. Dutiful and handsome Michael is trying to prepare for the arrival of his unnamed bride, but it is proving to be a challenge. His heart is already deeply entangled in a forbidden love with the graceful hazel-eyed Sophia. If they were ever to be discovered, their families would be ruined. The Tradition is a requirement for all young nobles; arranged marriages dictated by the powerful Church and kept sealed until the wedding. To fail in marriage is not an option - it is heresy! And they are being watched - closely. When fate conspires to present an alternate course, noble hearts can be reluctant to blindly accept what has been offered as the plan of God. But they are not the only ones motivated to deceive. For generations, the Church has held a firm grip on its position as the one true voice of God, and it would like to keep it that way. Closely guarded secrets are hiding behind Cathedral doors; some worth killing to protect. For Jez and Michael, the simple act of marrying their match becomes complicated...and deadly. Not everyone will live happily ever after.

Have you ever read a book that you thought would never end? That no matter how many hours you spent on it, there were more to come? Noble Lies by Stephanie Andrassy was that book for me. In a good way. Wait. Scratch that. In a GREAT way. You were sucked in and felt like you were living their lives with them. When Jez cries, you feel your eyes grow moist. When Michael is an idiot, you want to slap him.   When a child is born, the church decides who will be a perfect match for them. Some matches are close in age like Jez and Michael while others are further away like Jez's brother. Which actually made me wonder about nature versus nurture. Is her brother refusing to grow up due to the fact he doesn't need to marry right away or was he matched to someone much younger to allow him the time the church foresaw? I'm quite curious about this.   Only the noble class is matched, which seems to be both a blessing and a curse. On one hand, you are given someone that is supposed to be the perfect mate to you. On the other, what happens if you fall in love with someone that is not your betrothed?   The church that makes the matches escorts the young soon-to-be wives to their future husbands' homes. Unfortunately, there is evil lurking in the house of the church and many young wives and husbands have felt this. Scared to speak up, they must keep completely quiet lest their new family become disgraced.   Will something happen to Jez? Is Micheal going to make the proper choices in the end? Will the church stay tainted forever or will the purge the evil from their midst? I'll never tell, but I'd be happy to discuss it with you after you grab your copy of Noble Lies.   You can purchase Noble Lies from Amazon by clicking on the title. Please go find the author, Stephanie Andrassy, on facebook (since we know you spend a lot of time on there anyways) and tell her Home Venn sent you. While you're at it, stop by and give us a like as well! We LOVE hearing from you.

The Keeper and the Alabaster Chalice by Paige Pendleton

He’d bonded with the child. It was foretold, and so it would be. Black Ledge is inhabited again, but not everyone in the Realm is pleased. As the Driscolls settle into their new home they meet magical Beings, discover secrets, and exasperate the Elven Guard. They’re having a great time. Charm turns to alarm when they meet Doris, the Acadian Water Witch, who’s removed the Alabaster Chalice from its watery grave. The Noctivagi, drawn by the artifact’s Water Magyk, seek the Chalice for their own nefarious purpose, and mayhem ensues. Eleanor, Rob, Jack, and Flora fight time and tide to return the Alabaster Chalice to the Undine Prince before the darkness steals it.

There are quite a few series that I have to read all of the books in. Janet Evanovich’s Plum series, The Guardian series by Katie MacAlister, and Harry Potter by J. K. Rowling all come to mind. There are other books, of course, that I enjoy all of in a series but if we’re being honest here (and we are), unless something reminds me to buy the next book that comes out, I’m not going to remember to do it. I’ll buy them all day long if the next is out when I finish the book that I’m on but there are only a few authors that I remember to look up every couple of months to check on their progress of my own personal drug. And there are only two that I think of so often that I stalk follow them online. Paige Pendleton joined the ranks of these authors the day I read the first sentence of her first book, The Keeper and the Rune Stone. I started stalking following immediately. I wrote my first review of a book outside of the hollowed halls of school because I had to tell other people how amazing it was. I still do that. Any time I see someone wanting a recommendation of what to read, this book comes to mind. All I can say about this is…

Harry potter, you will always have a place in my heart. But thanks to The Black Ledge series, you have a whole new world of playmates.

How To Use Hoot Suite

Hey guys, I wanted to give you a quick tutorial on how to use Hoot Suite to pre-schedule your tweets and Facebook postings. There are multiple ways to schedule posts and tweets to go out at certain times of the day but my favorite is Hoot Suite (mainly because I just adore owls).

Start off by going to Hoot Suite and signing in with Facebook. You can choose to log in however you want, but for ease of this tutorial we're going with Facebook.
